I process personal data of users of this website only to the extent necessary to provide a functioning website as well as my content and services. Processing regularly takes place only with the user's consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR), for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR), or where necessary to safeguard legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR); the applicable legal basis is stated in the respective sections below. Any consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
When you access this website, the hosting provider automatically collects information in so-called server log files transmitted by your browser (e.g. browser type, operating system, referrer URL, IP address, date and time of the request). This data is required for the technically error-free and secure operation of the website, is not merged with other data sources, and is automatically deleted after a defined period. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a stable and secure provision of the website).
If you send me inquiries via the contact form, the data you provide there (name, email address, message text) is stored by me for the purpose of processing your inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measure) or Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in processing inquiries). Sending takes place via my own, self-operated mail server; form data is not passed on to external mail or marketing providers.
To protect against spam and automated abuse, I use the open-source, privacy-friendly ALTCHA method. The proof-of-work challenge it requires is generated and verified entirely on my own server; no data is transmitted to third-party providers. In addition, the IP address of submitting requests is stored locally for a short time (a one-hour sliding window) to limit the number of requests per IP address (rate limiting) and prevent abuse; this data is automatically deleted afterwards. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a functioning, abuse-protected contact form).
Purchases of licenses through this website are processed by our reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd. ("Paddle"). Paddle acts as Merchant of Record and processes, under its own responsibility, the data required for payment processing (including name, billing address, and payment data); this may involve the transfer of personal data outside the EU/EEA. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (performance of the purchase contract). Information on data processing by Paddle can be found in Paddle's privacy policy: paddle.com/legal/privacy.
Before the checkout opens, the site asks for some information in an intermediate step that is required to issue your license: the domain of your Group Office installation (to which the license code is technically bound) and whether you are ordering as a business or as a consumer; for consumers, additionally your consent to the early provision of the license, together with a timestamp (§ 356 (5) BGB). This information is transmitted to Paddle together with the order and made available to me from there for issuing the license code and for evidencing the consent. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract) and, for evidencing the consent, Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in evidencing the consent, cf. § 356 (5) BGB).
On my own part, this website uses only technically necessary cookies or comparable storage technologies required for operating the site. I do not use any tracking or analytics cookies of my own. The Pricing page loads Paddle's checkout script (cdn.paddle.com); as a result, your IP address is transmitted to Paddle as soon as you open that page. During a purchase, the embedded Paddle checkout may additionally set its own cookies and load further Paddle services (including analytics, translation and error-tracking services) required to carry out and secure the payment; see section 5 as well as Paddle's privacy policy. The legal basis for loading the script is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a functioning ordering process).
Your data is only disclosed to third parties to the extent necessary to provide the respective service: to my hosting provider (provision of the website) and, in the event of a purchase, to Paddle.com Market Ltd. (payment processing as Merchant of Record). Data is not disclosed for advertising purposes.
Unless otherwise stated in this privacy policy, personal data is stored only for as long as required for the respective purpose, or until you exercise your right of withdrawal or erasure. Statutory retention obligations, such as commercial and tax law retention periods for order data, remain unaffected.
Under the GDPR you have, in particular, the following rights against me as the controller: right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR), as well as the right to withdraw a given consent at any time (Art. 7 (3) GDPR). Where processing is based on Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR, you also have a right to object under Art. 21 GDPR. For this and any further questions, you can contact me at any time using the address given in the Legal Notice.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. with the Data Protection Authority of Baden-Württemberg (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg), which is responsible for my place of business (baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de).
For security reasons, this website uses SSL encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the browser's address bar switching from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock icon.
I reserve the right to amend this privacy policy to ensure it always complies with current legal requirements, or to reflect changes to my services. The new privacy policy will then apply to your next visit.
